Toddlers

At Kids Crossing, our Toddlers enjoy a variety of learning experiences that encourage them to develop a sense of self.  They practice skills required to deal with challenges as they learn about their rapidly changing environment. They learn basic classroom routines and rules and continue to develop social skills. They also begin or continue toilet training.

We provide activities that encourage them to play with other children in small groups. This gives children the ability to learn to play with others, share ideas and accomplish small group activities. We also believe it’s important for them to play independently so they begin to learn to express individual ideas and accomplish age-appropriate tasks by themselves. Our two-year-old curriculum includes a continuation of circle time (learning color, letter and number recognition; days of the week; months of the year, and weather), individualized goals, playtime with age-appropriate educational toys, imitating and pretending, stories and books, connecting with music and movement, creating art, sign language, small and gross motor skill activities and exploring the outdoors.

Each of our classrooms has an open door policy which encourages parents to be an active part of their child’s care and learning. Parents are welcome throughout the day to just observe, to interact with their child in the classroom, or with notice, to join us for lunch.
